Amber Friedman | Biography
Amber Friedman is an award-winning fabric artist, who lives with her family in Powell River, BC following a lifetime of travel and creativity, beginning with her first camera at five years old. She taught herself how to sew and dye fabric at 10 years old, using up all her mothers white sheets to do so. Currently, Friedman is exploring batik painting using all the colours of the rainbow to create various energetic currents.
Friedman attended the New Brunswick College of Craft and Design in Fredericton, studying textiles from WhiteFeather, Harriet Taylor and Janice Wright Cheney. During the four-year program, Friedman also participated in multiple group exhibitions, co-created emerging art boutiques and taught arts-based workshops alongside recognized artists in the community. She is currently the Vice-President of the Malaspina Arts Society. Her clothes and fashion accessories are for sale in BC, NB, Ontario and online. Friedman’s upcoming events include one exhibition at Fibre Works Gallery on the Sunshine Coast, opening October 10th, 2015 on display until November 22, 2015 and an exhibition at Nourish Yoga Studio in Powell River on display from September till December 2015.
