Le Club Bon Accueil de Powell River (translated as The French Association of Powell River) was founded in 1967 and was incorporated in 1977. The Club acquired a parcel of land on Manson Avenue in 1985; a group of dedicated volunteers erected the French Community Centre building in 6 months, inaugurating it in early 1986.
The mandate of Club Bon Accueil is to promote French culture and language and to foster a sense of belonging within the Francophone community through cultural, educational and community activities. Here is a general list of the activities and services offered to the Francophone and Francophile population of Powell River:
Pre School Program Beau Soleil
A program for French speaking children as well as a French Immersion program. The program has been administered by Club Bon Accueil since 1996 and is offered to children ages 3 to 5. Through games, songs, crafts, and structured free time, children develop a variety of skills in a French-speaking environment. The half-day program is offered to children with French-speaking parents as well as children with -English-speaking parents interested in French.
