The Cottage creek itself actually flows through our 13 acres of property. The bake shop is named after this natural bubbling oversized brook as this is how the bakery itself flows. Just like the water rushing and moving on, the yeast will be bubbling and rising and end up in the hands of someone else.
Cottage Creek Creations will develop and sell high quality, handmade breads and heritage recipe baking items to the residents, tourists and eating establishments of Powell River. Janet will focus on Artisan style breads that are hand crafted with unique, irregular shapes as well as using heirloom recipes for other baking morsels. Her Artisan Breads are created with a long fermentation time with no preservatives or conditioners, which enhances nutrition and flavour. She carries on the tradition of home style baking, using âfeel goodâ recipes, many that have been handed down through the generations.
True hand-crafted Artisan breads are made with four basic ingredients: wheat flour, water, salt and yeast. Bread is one of the oldest most basic foods there is. It wasnât necessary to add chemicals to bread for centuries, and it still isn't today. People today wish to consume ingredients that are recognizable with no artificial additives. We all want to be able to pronounce all of the ingredients used. You can't say it? Don't eat it!
