About us
The Community Resource Center (CRC), which is part of the Powell River Employment Program Society (PREP), has been operating in Powell River since September 2007. We provide a range of services including a café/drop-in, public access computers, public telephone, volunteer tax-help, legal services information, community services information and referral services as well as laundry facilities.
The CRC is open four days a week. Drop in hours are from 12:00 to 4:00 daily except for Mondays when the Centre is open at 10:00am to 4:00pm From 8:30 in the morning daily, the Centre is open for people who have appointments.
Services are available to all members of the community, however our main purpose is to assist people who are experiencing low income, social or cultural isolation and those who are multi-barriered, homeless or at-risk of becoming homeless.
Our Kitchen and Garden
Many of our workshops are held in our certified kitchen and demonstration garden. They aim to help people build skills in the kitchen and in the backyard so that they can increase their health and wellness. Cooking and gardening also provide great opportunities to socialize.
Our Volunteers
We could not run effectively without our volunteers. They come from every walk of life and help with reception, in the kitchen and café, in the garden and with many other activities depending on their individual skills.
If you would like to be part of our volounteer program, please give us a call at (604) 485-0992 or come in and see us.
